Luus, Wolvaardt lead spirited follow- on response after Rana's 8- fer

A 190- run stage between Sune Luus and Laura Wolvaardt helped South Africa put up a fighting response after being asked to follow on against India, on the third day of the Chennai Test.

Led by Sneh Rana's career-stylish 8 for 77, South Africa were whisked out for 266 in the first innings before the stager brace saved them in the alternate essay on Sunday. The callers went to wholes on 232 for 2, still running India by 105 runs at the end of third day's play.

Continuing Day 3 on 236 for 4, South Africa lost overnight partial- centurion Marizanne Kapp beforehand. Looking to defend Rana's offbreak, she was beaten on the outside edge and gutted up and that opened the door for a collapse.

Sinola Jafta departed without scoring, getting an edge to forward short leg. Deepti Sharma also trapped Anne Derckson legbefore and Rana ripped through the last three to insure South Africa could add only 40 runs to their late aggregate. With a lead of 337, India asked the callers to follow on.

India managed to find success beforehand indeed in the alternate innings when Deepti trapped Anne Bosch legbefore in the eighth over. still, Luus and Wolvaardt dropped the anchor. The stager brace maundered past the Lunch and Tea break en route their near-double century stage. Luus, playing only her third Test, registered her demoiselle Test century, after formerly having scored a 65 in the first innings.

It was the loftiest cooperation for any gate for South Africa, catching the trouble of Johmari Logtenberg and Charlize van der Westhuizen( 138 runs vs England in 2003).

still, late in the day, she fell while trying to pull Harmanpreet Kaur. She got an inside edge on to the wholes, handing India their alternate gate of the innings after nearly four hours of surveillance. Wolvaardt, still, continued to remain steady after having brought up her demoiselle Test fifty. She went to wholes unbeaten 93, having played what was a near chanceless knock. Kapp offered her support towards the dying twinkles of the day's play, and remained unbeaten on 15.
