Musheer puts another emotional step forward

In what has been a rather productive time for 19- time old Musheer Khan, a back- to- the- wall 105 * on the opening day of the Duleep jewel against an educated attack only served to emphasize his disposition in the red- ball game. Musheer started the time with a couple of hundreds against Ireland and New Zealand in the Under- 19 World Cup before scoring a double hundred for Mumbai in the Ranji quarterfinal, a fifty in the semifinal and another hundred in the final. His selection for the Duleep jewel- a event littered with the stylish of domestic bents this time was as much a result of the atrocious form as well as the eventuality for advanced honours.

While the Under- 19 World Cup might have pushed him into the spotlight originally, Musheer reveals that all his focus has been trained towards the longer formats." Whatever practice I do with my pater is each around red- ball justice," he said in a press conference at the end of the first day's play in Bengaluru.

Naushad Khan, the father of both Musheer and his elder family Sarfaraz has been a fabled instructor for both sons. During the Covid lockdown, he would gone out of his way to get Sarfaraz the needed practice he would demanded. The point that he is been drilling to the youngish son is each about the longer format, says Musheer." Whatever work we do is for red- ball justice. He( Naushad) tells me there is no need to go out towards other effects. The further we stay in red ball justice, the better because this works well."

It's a mantra that has been inhaled up by Musheer." There was a Mumbai camp as well, I got a lot of good practice there as well. And I was constantly rehearsing with my pater . I had a feeling that a chance can come at anytime so I was constantly rehearsing for that."

On Thursday when Musheer walked out to club at No. 3 in the fourteenth over, the focus was perenially on India A's fast bowlers who were beginning to use the conditions in their favour effectively. On a lawn- covered pitch and under cloudy conditions, Musheer set up the launch to be relatively nervy. He saw an outside edge falling short of slip, and another close LBW appeal turned down. He'd looked at ocean in trying to fight the moving ball by occasionally walking out but with mixed returns. To his credit, Musheer noway tried to hit his way out of trouble. In a manner that's contrary to his peers, his system was to stick to some old sayings.

" When I went in for fur, I was allowing of only playing as numerous balls as possible. I was n't allowing about the runs, I just wanted to club the whole day. I do not suppose too important and I wanted to take it session by session. When I went by, the ball was swinging a little bit, I was only trying to play late and close to the body. I did n't want to play any parlous shots also, just play on the merit of the ball. Whatever runs come, it will come, I was n't trying to go in hunt of it," he said.

True to his words he stuck to his ordnance. In the first session he walked back at Lunch having maundered for 88 twinkles and 52 balls with only 6 runs against his name. It's only when the spin of Kuldeep Yadav came in that he tried looking for further scoring shots. The pitch or the conditions were n't offering important for the India incentive but nonetheless, Musheer's confidence in diving him was another feather in his cap. Five off his ten boundaries came against the wrist incentive.

" I was playing him( Kuldeep) for the alternate time, I had played him in the Academy ahead. We've a lot of educated players in our side like my family and Rishabh bhai also. They were telling me which balls of his could be effective and that I should stay for the short ball. So I was allowing about that when I was playing him. But formerly I was set I was suitable to play him typically. I feel that if you get set on thiis gate, it becomes easier for fur," reflected Musheer.

Another challenge that Musheer crushed successfully was fur with a lower- order batter like Navdeep Saini with whom he added an unbeaten 108- run stage for the eighth gate after India A were gaping down the barrel at 94/7.

" Saini bhai came by and gave me the confidence. He told me to have faith saying' I will stay, indeed if you give me two balls to face or six.' He just told me to have faith in him. And that is what happed, we were communicating well in the middle. What I was allowing was the same that he was allowing as well which was to take the runs as and when they come but not go searching for it."

Gus Atkinson helps England take 2- 0 lead

England secured a hard- fought palm by 190 runs on the fourth autumn at Lord's and took an untouchable 2- 0 lead in the series against Sri Lanka. It was their fifth palm on the witch this summer and alternate under the stage- in captain Ollie Pope. Gus Atkinson, who scored a century in the first innings, starred in the alternate with a five- gate haul that helped drift out Sri Lanka for 292. The palm came soon after Tea, with the new ball leading to three quick lattices.

Dhananjaya de Silva, who made his 16th Test fifty, outside- edged an Atkinson delivery onto his wholes and Milan Rathnayake edged before soon after. Chris Woakes wrapped up the innings and the palm with an out- pace delivery to Lahiru Kumara on what was a slow pitch on offer. utmost of the damage was done by England in the autumn but the alternate session started with a flurry of boundaries from Dinesh Chandimal, the batter chancing the middle of the club against Shoaib Bashir's offspin but not relatively suitable to do the same against Chris Woakes.

The leader sailed a probing six- over spell but with no lattices to show for. Chandimal, meanwhile, went on to make a half- century off 42 balls, the quickest by a Sri Lankan at Lord's. In the process, Chandimal added a half- century stage for the fifth gate but England broke through soon after the corner with the gate of Angelo Mathews. It was a nice set- up by Shoaib Bashir, who went round the gate and got the batter dicing tomid-off. Chandimal was eventually undone in a fresh spell from Gus Atkinson when he outside- edged onto his pad and lofted a catch to short leg.

The leader struck again in his coming over and transferred back the in- form Kamindu Mendis caught- behind. commander, Dhananjaya de Silva and Milan Rathnayake came together and added 73 runs for the eighth gate. De Silva in particular looked emotional during his 70- ball stay and brought up his 16th Test fifty with a drive down the ground.

He was castled as a delivery by Atkinson kept low, soon after which the batter diced on. before in the morning session, England reduced Sri Lanka to 136 for 4 despite a flexible half- century from Dimuth Karunaratne, whose redundancy

just before the break set Sri Lanka back. Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews had earlier sustained the chase with a 50- run stage after Prabath Jayasuriya fell beforehand. England's bowlers, led by Olly Stone, subsidized on crucial moments to keep Sri Lanka under pressure. detail scoresSri Lanka 196 & 260/7( Chandimal 58, de Silva 50; Atkinson 5- 62) lost to England 427 & 251 by 190 runs

BCCI to review two- bouncer, Impact Player rules

piecemeal from the important- batted Impact Player rule, the Board of Control for Cricket in India( BCCI) is presently stuck on another significant playing condition from the last domestic and Indian Premier League( IPL) season- the alternate bouncer clause. The BCCI remains undecided on whether to continue with the two rules, and there are suggestions that it's considering reviewing them. The rules are specifically meant for the men's Twenty20inter-state competition, the Syed Mushtaq Ali jewel( SMAT).

The two- bouncer rule was introduced in domestic justice, latterly in the IPL, last season when the alternate bouncer in an over was effectively used. In transnational justice, only one bouncer is allowed. The rule was ate largely by the cricketing fraternity in the country, substantially during the IPL, but it's understood that a review of the rule is underway." We understand that Impact Player and two bouncer rules are the crucial points and no decision has been taken," said an functionary of a state unit. The decision on whether to include these rules in the SMAT will impact their durability in the IPL.

The patient dilemma is why the BCCI has yet to partake the playing conditions for the SMAT, despite before stating that they would be communicated soon. It has been over three weeks since the BCCI released those rules, guidelines, and playing conditions for other forthcoming domestic events of the season, but the state associations remain oblivious about whether these two rules will be continued.

In its August 5 advertisement to the state units, the BCCI had stated," In relation to the Domestic Season 2024- 25, we're participating the following documents for your kind perusal. 1. Guidelines to the Host Associations and sharing brigades; 2. Playing Conditions; Men's Multi Day; Men's One Day; Women's Multi Day; Women's One Day; Women's T20; Women'sU-15" with a note which stated;" Men's T20 Playing Conditions will be participated shortly." The SMAT competition will start in November.

The main issue remains the Impact Player rule, which continues to be a divisive content within the justice community. lately, Zaheer Khan expressed support for the rule, although numerous players and trainers are understood to have opposing views to it." There has been a debate around the impact sub rule. I am going on record to say that I am all for it. It has surely given openings to a lot of uncapped Indian bents. It's commodity you'll see in the mega transaction when brigades will be looking at them."

" As far as each- rounders are concerned, right now there's no space for a half each- rounder because of the impact sub( rule). But if you're a genuine each- rounder,( also) no bone can stop you. There's always going to be a value addition with the capability with club and ball," Zaheer said lately in Kolkata during a Lucknow Super Giant event.

When asked about it lately, BCCI clerk Jay Shah had said that a call will be taken and communicated soon.
